Activate for business door programs

Run your own door survey with your team

Built for businesses running their own door surveys. Ask one question at each door, such as whether a household would be interested in your service, and follow the answers on a live dashboard as your team works.

Create a free account, then create a campaign, choose Business campaigns and then At the door. Name your program, set its dates and write your field question.

Set up a business door program

Each step below uses screens that exist in Activate today.

  1. Create your free account

Sign up with your email. No credit card is required.

  2. Choose Business campaigns, then At the door

Create a campaign and choose Business campaigns. When Activate asks how your team will reach people, choose At the door. Business campaigns skip the candidate, office and election questions.

  3. Set the program dates

Choose when the door program starts and its last day of field work. You can change both later in Campaign Settings.

  4. Upload your own list

Upload the addresses your business may visit, or set the list up later. CSV, Excel, delimited text and ZIP files of supported tables work. Review the preview and the cost in Credits before you confirm. Official voter files are for election work only, so business campaigns cannot request them.

  5. Write your field question

Write the one question your team asks at each door. You can edit it later in Campaign Settings.

  6. Invite your team

Share the QR code or link. Canvassers join in the browser with no app store, open the doors assigned to them and record an answer at each.

From your list to answers you can act on

  1. Start with addresses you may visit

Use a list your business is allowed to use for this program, such as your own customers or the streets you plan to serve. Activate encrypts the records at rest and shows each canvasser one assigned record at a time. Software does not grant permission to contact anyone.

  2. Ask one clear question

Write the question your team asks, and agree on what Yes and No mean before the first shift, so every answer means the same thing across the team. Each visit records Yes, No, Not Home or Skip, plus notes.

  3. Assign doors to your team

Invite canvassers with a QR code or link. Activate groups nearby addresses by street and building and splits them across your team so nobody knocks the same door twice. Unlimited canvassers, no per-seat fee — team size stays a field decision.

    See team invitations →
  4. Review progress and export the answers

A live dashboard updates automatically as your team works. Export the program's data as CSV for your own records and the next round of visits.

One example: testing a neighborhood's interest

Asking a few streets before you offer a service there

A local business is deciding whether to offer its service in a new neighborhood. The owner uploads the addresses on a few blocks and writes one question: would the household be interested if the service came to their street? Canvassers record Yes, No, Not Home or Skip, with a note when a resident asks for something specific. A Yes is that household's answer to the question, so the business reads the street's interest straight from the export.

Free door work. No per-seat fee.

Route creation and door canvassing are free, with unlimited canvassers and no per-seat fee. Each account stores 5,000 records free every 12 months; file preparation and records beyond that use Credits, quoted before you confirm. Buy Credits once, as needed. No subscriptions.

If your business also texts people who agreed to hear from it, texting opens after a short review by us. Texting uses purchased Credits, and the app shows the exact cost before anything is sent.

Before your first shift

Is this a door survey?

Activate fits a door program where your team visits a list of addresses and records one answer at each. Multi-question surveys, appointment booking and collecting contact details are outside what it does today; if your program needs them, tell us through the contact page.

What will your team record?

Each visit records Yes, No, Not Home or Skip, plus notes. A Yes is an answer to your question. It is not a sale, an appointment or an agreement.

Whose rules apply at the door?

Your business's. Local solicitation permits, do-not-knock and no-solicitation registries, the National Do Not Call Registry, consent before you text or call, and any cancellation notice required for a sale made in a person's home are yours to follow. Activate does not check your list against any registry. When a resident asks your team not to come back, record it in the visit's notes so the request stays with that address in your export.
