Swipe canvassing
The door is the hard part. Logging it shouldn't be.
Activate puts one voter on the screen at a time — name, age, address, and phone, readable at arm's length on a doorstep. The response is a single tap: yes, no, not home, or skip. Submit, and the next assignment is already up.
How it works
- 1A canvasser opens their assignment and sees one voter at a time, with your campaign's talking points on the same screen — no paper walk list to flip through.
- 2After the conversation, one tap records it: yes, no, not home, or skip. The buttons are large and thumb-sized, so it works one-handed, walking, in the sun.
- 3Submitting sends the result to the campaign and brings up the next assignment in seconds — nothing to transcribe when the shift ends.
What your campaign gets
- Four outcomes, one tap each — yes, no, not home, skip — so a first-time volunteer needs no training to record a door correctly.
- The voter's name, age, address, and phone in front of the canvasser before they knock, instead of a printed row they have to find.
- Your talking points travel with every volunteer, so the campaign's message stays the same at the tenth door as at the first.
- Results land in your campaign as they're submitted — feeding the manager dashboard and your CSV export, with no evening spent typing up walk sheets.
In a field program
A volunteer on a first shift could show up with nothing but a phone, open their assignment at the top of a block, and work down one side of the street tapping an outcome at each door. When a neighbor answers with a question, the talking points are already on screen. By the time they hand the shift back, every door they knocked is already recorded — nothing to hand in, nothing to decipher later.
Limits — and what stays yours
- It doesn't make anyone walk faster. How many doors a shift covers depends on the neighborhood — density, stairs, weather, time of day. What Activate removes is the overhead between doors, not the walking itself.
- It records what volunteers log. A conversation nobody submits never reaches your dashboard or your export, so shift habits still matter.
- It needs a working data connection. Assignments load and outcomes submit over the network — canvassing fully offline isn't something Activate does yet, so plan around known dead zones.
